JYJ announces world tour, plus Jaejoong to be its director

JYJ is gearing up to embark on a large-scale world tour.

The trio is planning to resume their overseas promotions in April by hosting the ‘JYJ World Tour Concert in 2011‘, which will visit five Asian countries and five North American cities. Resuming promotions for their album, “The Beginning“, the boys will hold concerts in Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, New York, L.A., Washington D.C., San Francisco, and Canada.

Jaejoong specifically will be in charge of directing the concerts in Asia. He has previously directed certain stage productions, even partaking in the visual effects component with the other staff members for their last concerts in Korea, U.S., and Japan.

A representative from C-JeS Entertainment stated, “Jaejoong’s interest in directing concerts has been growing. After proving his credibility by directing some performances in previous concerts, we named him as one of the directors of our world tour“.

Before embarking on the epic tour, JYJ is planning to hold a fan meeting in March, in celebration of ‘White Day’.

110218 K-pop Trio JYJ Scores Legal Battle Win

SEOUL: Korean pop trio JYJ is one step closer to their goal of extricating themselves from a 13-year contract with former employer, entertainment giant SM Entertainment, after a court victory on Thursday, reported Korean media.

SM Entertainment had previously filed an objection against an earlier court decision, which deemed the contract between the company and JYJ unfair and ordered SM Entertainment to stop interfering in JYJ's activities.

The company claimed that it was illegal for the courts to prevent SM Entertainment from pursuing its interests, as laid out in the exclusive contract between the company and JYJ members Hero Jaejoong, Micky Yuchun and Xiah Junsu (all former members of SM Entertainment's boy band Tong Vfang Xien Qi).

However, Korean courts dismissed SM Entertainment's objection and upheld its October 2009 ruling that the trio are free to go about their activities without having to pay any damages to SM Entertainment as the contract between them was unfair.

Korean courts pointed out that the 13-year contract duration and clauses which heavily penalized artistes who wanted out of the contract, "could not be justified by the investment risk undertaken by the company" for signing the artistes.

The courts also turned down SM Entertainment's request to suspend JYJ's contract with their current employer CJES Entertainment, explaining that the request was submitted at a time when the court order for SM Entertainment to leave JYJ alone was still in effect, which made the request invalid.



After the court victory, CJES Entertainment Baek Chang Ju expressed that he was overjoyed JYJ will "no longer be plagued by accusations of double contracts" and thanked JYJ fans for their support.

JYJ member Xiah Junsu also tweeted that he was very grateful to the fans for "not letting go" and giving JYJ the strength to keep going.

An SM Entertainment spokesperson told Korean media that the company is still working to prove that its contract with JYJ is valid and that "the legal battle between SM and JYJ is not yet over".

[NEWS] 110217 Seoul Central District Court Dismisses Both of SME's Injunctions Against JYJ

On February 17th, the Seoul Central District Court dismissed both lawsuits filed by SM Entertainment against JYJ.

To recap, SM Entertainment filed an objection on October 27th, 2009, claiming that the Seoul Central District Court’s order to prevent them from interfering with JYJ’s individual activities was illegal.

The court rejected SM’s injunction objection application by stating, “The exclusive contract between SM and JYJ forces the celebrity to become subordinate to the agency without any discretion. JYJ has no option but to follow SM’s actions due to the subordinate rank they are forced under in the power of SM. A long-term subordinate contract cannot be justified by the risks the agency took in investments, as well as international advancements.”

They continued, “Aside from the long-term contract terms, SM’s ability to supervise and direct every move made by JYJ, as well as the clause claiming that JYJ must repay for losses only emphasizes the subordinate positions of JYJ in the contract, so the injunction is invalid.”

Regarding the second injunction filed by SM Entertainment, asking the court to suspend JYJ’s contract with CJES Entertainment, the court replied by saying that the injunction is invalid since SM Entertainment was ordered on October 27th, 2009 that they were to not interfere with JYJ’s individual activities, and their injunction was in breach of that order.

Baek Chang Ju, CEO of CJES Entertainment, commented, “We consider it a victory of truth and hope that their activities are no longer hindered by forced accusations of double contracts. We will be working hard to show only the best side of JYJ to the public. I would like to thank the JYJ members and the staff for consistently battling a tiring fight against Goliath.”

In conclusion, the exclusive contract between SM and JYJ is invalid, and JYJ’s individual activities are legal.

110211 JYJ’s Jaejoong reveals what his ideal woman is like

On February 11th, JYJ’s Jaejoong guested on cable channel MBN’s “Entertainment Magazine VIP” and revealed what his ideal woman would be like.

After expressing that he would like a housewife, he explained, “I’d like someone who looks like me, but just because I like housewives, please don’t say ‘Kim Jaejoong’s ideal woman is a housewife’.”

When asked which JYJ member he thought would get married the earliest, he replied, “I think Junsu will get married the fastest since his parents are older.”

Junsu, who also guested on the show, retorted by telling a fun story about Jaejoong’s parents. “Jaejoong’s father once asked him whether he had a girlfriend. When he said no, his father asked, ‘Can’t I get a grandson somehow?’”

Later on, the boys were asked what they looked for when they checked out girls; was it the face or the body? Junsu chose body, while Yoochun chose face.
