[TRANS] 090921 Happy Bar(8) Magazine evaluated Yunho as Dong Bang Shin Ki’s Big Brother
During the early 90s when the Little Tigers stood out and hit throughout Asia, then afterwards H.O.T led the Korean Music Industry and at the present today, a wide a variety of groups blossomed everywhere. One of our friends in the entertainment circle was interpreted as “a person who increases the success rate of a celebrity”, using a similar manpower and physical resources yet at the same time releasing more than ten members with him, scoring a victory due to their large amount of members.
Of course it’s desirable to have all the members in the group to receive popularity, however when one of the members become popular then the whole group might become popular with him too even if one member of the group would be well-liked, this group could flip over and become victorious.
This factor might be sufficient for a member to turn his or her group into a successful one, and that member is whom we call the “Big Brother”.
Probably, he is proficient in all those kind of skills he needs to be and perhaps a considerably huge gap he has had to close in a number of friends, but as long as he is a role in a certain aspect and also the “Big Brother2, he can be qualified with the title.
They have an outstanding capability of leading their group, and whom words weight the most in the group. Some of them are preeminent in certain fields such as movies/television dramas or singing/dancing etc, holding the position of a lead singer or dancer; some of them possess a fairy-tale kind of appearance or family background, dominating female students for a long period of time with their knight in shining armour personas….
In an industry full of talents and could still be able to temper oneself and come out as the kind it was certain that they are still able to call the wind and summon the rain in the music industry even if they were to fly alone. In this weeks “H8”, we will be bringing out a few of the pile of handsome artists for everyone and there’s a need to explain that we do not incite them to go solo but to slightly remind everyone that, perhaps they aren’t any worse to these solo artists who had clasped awards for themselves in their individual category.
The group’s Big Brother
Most of them had the position of a leader, a number of them even had this little bit of “domination2 in them, however, it was each individual’s talent that they achieved like being well-mannered, friendly, and sharing a harmonious relationship between the media and the fans etc.
Jung Yunho. A Big Boy, a Small Man.
Why is he the Big Brother in TVXQ?
1. Even though he was not the eldest, he had the most leadership qualities
2. Even though TVXQ has five members he always takes the initiative in public affairs
3. Even though he was said to being unreasonable, he is always giving thoughts to TVXQ
4. Even though when he was extremely cute when acting like a spoiled child, he looked the most domineering when he was angry
5. The other 4 members had once commented, “Without Yunho, there wouldn’t be TVXQ!”
On the 4th of February, 2008, TVXQ was recorded in the Guinness World Record Book, being the artist who had the most official fans worldwide. When they broke the record, the number of members totalled up to 800,000 and according to the reports, TVXQ’s fan club ‘Cassiopeia’ is exceeding 1,300,000 members right now!
Playful Big Boy
When Yunho was in middle school he fell in love with dancing and during that time, SM Entertainment was holding an audition so his friends quietly signed up for his and little he expect that after participating he’d had won the first place and was able to sign a contract with SM Entertainment.
Later on, Yunho became a trainee in SM Entertainment for 6 years and those long trainings had him once feeling worries, he had also took on rapping and being a back-up dancer for Dana who was a singer in the same company but most of the times he was emerged as being “unoriginal”.
In the year of 2002 when TVXQ had yet to debut he was even mistaken for Shinhwa’s Junjin and was being chased for autographs, this had allowed the company to see more of Yunho’s potential. In fact it was during the training years that Yunho had almost became a member of Super Junior because at first he was with Super Junior’s Kangin and Heechul in a group but later on the company did some rearrangements and he entered TVXQ. Thinking of his past, Yunho sighed, yet he’s feeling happy for Super Junior now.
Throwing off the title of a leader, privately Yunho is an easy going and polite big boy. Furthermore he likes to act childishly. Usually while walking, he will be having an “intimate contact” with his friends like his arms around their shoulders and it’s inevitable that people would get another by his actions. However, Yunho was persistent and would also jump on their backs to disturb them.
He was not a picky eater, but a big one, every time he had a meal with his members privately he’d b the first one to finished it and would even steal others’ shares when he didn’t have enough. However, this only happened in a lively atmosphere of their everyday life such as when all the members were working, he would be giving them beverages and food before himself.
Standing on the arduous stage there are countless times the members had dropped their tears due to exhaustion but Yunho almost rarely cried in public before but he hid himself to cry, the most would be when he would lend JaeJoong’s shoulders. “It’s not that I’m strong, it’s that I had to become strong”, and this is what we call a big boy’s attitude.
Earnest Young Man
Sometimes to be more mature than people of his age, it would be giving off an impression of being astute; leading to others feeling vigilance towards this leader but this was also not the aftermath of the hardships he had faced ever since he debuted.
Yunho’s stomach was not very good and because of this, the members wrote small notes reminding him to eat his meals and would place them into his pocket. No matter how strong a person can be, with their intensive schedules, he would also feel exhausted. As a matter of fact, Yunho was often sick and the hospital staff revealed that most of the time Yunho would be going to the hospital secretly at 4AM in the morning for intravenous drips and would run back to the recording studio 2 hours later for recording.
There was a time when Yunho’s chronic enteritis reoccurred while he was doing a shoot and the other 4 members had already gone to the broadcasting station for recording and at that point of time, Yunho was in such a painful condition that he couldn’t even eat anything so in the end he went to hospital to have an injection and this was witnessed by a Cassiopeia. Yunho gelp onto her hand and said, “Don’t cry, this is nothing.” Later on a Cassiopeia went to buy possible for him and usually in a time like this the manager would refuse the offer but he had accepted it, this is how Yunho survived for another day. Still this matter was never revealed to his other members and he had been playing the image of a big man with super endurance.
In the end they patted him over and over again till he finally cried, it seemed that he was already very strong since the beginning of his birth.
Boy – Man 25 Years Old Looking into the Future
It was natural for him to be working hard and being dedicated to his work, in the latest interview, we chatted about the future – the leader would like to travel and recuperate.
Q: What do you think will happen when you’re 25 years old?
YH: Er, that would be after 2 years, I guess by that time, TVXQ and I would have travelled around the world! We will definitely be as busy as we are now, however, we will earnestly hope that our company would give us a holiday. (laugh)
Q: Which country do you want to have a holiday?
YH: The countries I wanted to visit couldn’t be counted little, for example, Greece, Las Vegas, Maldives……. Still, the place which I really wanted to go is Greece, because I had only seen pictures of this country. If I were to visit every single country I wanted to visit, I guessed I would need to spend more than a month.
Q: Would you spend your holidays alone or with your friends?
YH: It’s good to be with my friends; on the other hand, it wasn’t bad to go for a holiday alone. I wouldn’t have to be TVXQ U-know, I can be another ordinary person exploring and pondering over things.
Q: Did you mean that, travelling is a process whereby you discover yourself?
YH: Yes. That way, I could understand myself more; I wanted to find back parts of me which I’ve lost while I was busy working…… While travelling, I could look closely at myself. I’m sure that, no matter how formidable a person was, he or she also had moments when they felt exhausted.
Q: Are you saying that you are a little tired now?
YH: To say truthfully, what I’m feeling right now is the pressure I gave to myself so that I could improve constantly, still, there’re times when you used up all your energy and I didn’t know if I can recuperate effectively, therefore, sufficient time for resting is very important.
